How to Reach Altea Without a Car

You do not need a hire car for Altea if you plan the last mile. The Costa Blanca TRAM and a short walk (or taxi hop) cover most visitor days.

1. TRAM from Alicante towards Benidorm / Denia

The scenic coastal tram links Alicante with stops serving the Altea area. Check the official timetable the morning you travel — evening frequencies thin out.

2. Airport → Altea without driving

• Pre-book a private transfer to your hotel door if you land late or with heavy bags
• ALSA / coach options via Benidorm work for daytime arrivals
• Avoid unmarked touts in arrivals — use a booked service or official rank

3. Once you are in Altea

The seafront and many restaurants are walkable. For the steep Casco Antiguo, wear decent shoes and treat taxis as a night-time tool rather than a daily budget line.
