Cala Granadella When the Barrier Is Down
Updated 2026 · Blanca Guide travel guide
Granadella is a small cove at the end of a narrow road. In summer a barrier often stops cars before the beach. Check the signs higher up so you know whether you can drive all the way down.
1. Read the signs before the last bend
In high summer access is controlled every day; later in the season it is often weekends and holidays only. About 130 paid spaces sit on Calle del Pic Tort — roughly €9 a day from 09:00 to 19:00, and you cannot book. When the lot is full the barrier stays down. Trust the boards at the Consum roundabout, the Barraca junction and the Trovador. The dates change each year.
2. Do not drive onto Avinguda del Tío Catalá
That last stretch to the cove is closed to ordinary cars. Turning around there blocks everyone behind you. If the sign says full, turn around earlier.
3. Take the tourist train when parking is full
- From early July to mid-September a tourist train runs from the La Guàrdia car park on Carrer de la Falzia
- An adult return costs about €6; several reduced fares are lower
- Outside that period, arrive before 09:00 or pick another cove for the day
Bottom line
Plan for the barrier. Check the Consum roundabout sign, park on Calle del Pic Tort if there is space, or take the tourist train. Do not try to drive down the closed avenue.
