Calpe Salt Flats From the Path, Not the Pans
Oppdatert 2026 · Blanca Guide reiseguide
The salt flats sit between Calpe town and the Peñón. Flamingos use them. You do not need to leave the path to tell they are there.
1. Stay on the edge
Watch from the perimeter path beside the old salt works. The pans are not a shortcut and they are not a beach. Feet stay on the path.
2. Go before the glare
- Morning light shows the birds; midday glare hides them
- There is little shade on the open edge
- Binoculars help more than walking closer
3. Park once
The flats and a Peñón plan can share one car stop. A second hunt for parking usually costs the birds you came to see.
Bottom line
Morning, edge of the Salinas, binoculars if you have them. Look from the path. Leave the pans alone.
